Overnight ride to Verde Canyon

THERE WILL BE NO TIME TO STOP FOR BREAKFAST IN PAYSON BECAUSE WE HAVE TO GET TO CLARKDALE. Eat before leaving or you'll need to gas station snack until lunchtime.

 

Meet at SHD at 7:30 AM, KSU at 8:00 AM

CHD - left on 56th St., left on Frye, right on Kyrene to Loop 202 East.
202 East to Loop 101 North to Loop 202 East
Exit Country Club Dr./AZ-87 North
AZ87 North through Payson to AZ-260
AZ 87 North/AZ 260 West to Maverick Station - 715 N. Beeline Hwy, Payson, AZ 85541 - gas stop (92 miles)

Stay on AZ 260 to Cottonwood
Turn left onto Main St./AZ-89A/Broadway through Cottonwood to Clarkdale 
Take Broadway to Verde Canyon Railroad (79 miles)

Lunch at Copper Spike Café (RR Depot)

Options:

  • Verde Canyon Railroad ride 1:00 pm (4 hours, $120)
  • John Bell Museum at the railroad depot
  • Tuzigoot National Monument - 2.5 miles from railroad depot
  •  Arizona Copper Museum or Clarkdale Museum - 0.5 mi from railroad depot
  • Jerome History Walk - 6 miles fro railroad depot 1 pm, 3 pm, 5 pm  (1 hour, $39)
  • Dinner show at Blazin' M Ranch

Return to Cottonwood via Broadway/AZ-89A/Main St. (5 miles) gas and motel
  Best Western Cottonwood, 993 S. Main St., Cottonwood AZ  96326 - $120/night

Day 2:  Take AZ-89A to AZ -89, turn left on AZ-89 through Prescott
  Left on AZ-89 to US 93 to Vulture Mine Rd.  (Gas Stop) - 99 miles
  US 93 to US 60 at Wickenberg
  US 60 to Loop 303 to I-10 to home

Closed Event: Chapter activities are conducted primarily for the benefit of H.O.G. Chapter members. Closed Events are those events open to Chapter members and one guest per member.  All guests must sign an event release. Be aware, all rides and events are subject to change or cancellation due to weather or other circumstances beyond our control.

Impairment Policy: The consumption and use of alcohol is a serious personal responsibility involving the safety of family, riding friends and the individual HOG member. Alcohol consumption before or during a motorcycling activity is not safe, responsible behavior. Foothills Chapter #5117 does not allow the use of alcohol or drugs before or during a riding event* and does not furnish alcohol at Chapter rides. Riders whose skills are observed or suspected to be impaired by alcohol or drugs before riding cannot join the ride. Riders using alcohol or drugs while riding will be asked to leave the ride. It is the responsibility of each Template Chapter member to support the consistent enforcement of this policy

Photography Policy: Photographing, filming, recording and videotaping of activities and events will be occurring Foothills Chapter events. By entering the H.O.G.® event area, you irrevocably grant permission to the Harley-Davidson Motor Company® and its agents to photograph, film, record and/or videotape you and use (and authorize the use of) your name, image, likeness, voice, and/or biographical or other information in any and all media now known or hereinafter developed in perpetuity for any and all purposes.
